Temperature Play

BDSM is a general term that covers many different arts and pursuits. Within Sodomy (pain) is one of these parts Temperature Play. Which means; Playing with ice and fire! This is a fun way to explore the boundaries of your partner and yourself. As with most aspects of Sodomy, this is most often applied externally.
Playing with temperatures generally requires some experience because it can involve some risks, which is of course a big source of fun in itself! Many fetish clubs across Europe (and I am sure the US do as well!) have special workshop evenings where you have someone with a lot of experience who can show the ins and outs of this. Finding and pushing limits is exciting, but to exceed the so far you hurt the other more than they can handle, is never the intention.
A good way to start here first instance itself with some ice cubes or used tea bags or other foods. But what is also interesting is a special lubricant that add extra hot or extra cold to the touch. This gives an idea what to expect of it and what you do and do not like.
Fire Here you can find various options that may be of interest to you (and your partner). The most popular form of this are candles. Some change in massage oil, others remain wax that drips onto the skin when it is melted. Your partner can strategically place the drops on you, or can hang a candle above you while you're tied up and let time do its thing.
Another option that often requires more experience and technique is Fire Cupping. Here alcohol on the skin is applied and fired, then a glass dome is put over the flame. The fire burns the oxygen creating a vacuum between the skin and the dome. Another possibility is to make the glass dome warm, but this is not always safe according to experts. This cupping can leave rings which can be a few hours or even a few days. Allow to restore your skin and make sure there are no irritations, this might be the case, please consult a doctor before trying again.
You can also burn small amounts of alcohol on the skin without the cups. This is purely a few drops. Always start with small quantities! If you think you can anymore, it is always possible to try that. You can make it with a cloth, or a small specially designed 'torch'. Doctors sometimes use this to relieve stress from muscles. Personally, I just think Michael Phelps has a very open view on his fetishes. Good for him!

• Warning: when working with flames, make sure no polyester and other combustible materials are nearby! Where possible, use specially designed products; These were tested for this purpose and ensure that you are better prepared to work
Ice Sex with your partner is always nice. But if the weather is very hot; look at ice to play with! Ice cubes being stroked on your body is lovely in the balmy summer evenings, but also the rest of the year.
In addition to 'normal' ice cubes there are other options to get stuck in with. One of my favorites is a dildo with metal and silicone parts. This gives not only a difference in texture, but also in temperature. This can, of course, be amplified by putting the dildo in the fridge! Many metal toys are very suitable for ice-play. For instance probes, butt plugs, nipple and clitoris clips and more. Metal toys can also be used for heat play, but be careful for burns!
There are also hollow ceramic dildos to pour water inside of. These can be put in the refrigerator or freezer to cool. Another option is to use hot water. Do you feel more creative, you can always fill a condom with water and freeze. Glass dildos and toys may be solid, but also give a feeling colder than the average silicone toy.
As with all new to discover kinks, take it easy. It's about you, so take your time and enjoy it. When something does not feel comfortable stop immediately. Because you are working with extreme temperatures and (permanent) damage can be done if something goes wrong.
